Discover why EZ Freeze options are the best liquid propane solutions for a refrigerator below:
Benefits of Liquid Propane Refrigeration from EZ Freeze
At Warehouse Appliance, our selection of LP refrigerators from EZ Freeze offers our customers and their residences several notable benefits, including:
No Reliance on the Electrical Grid
One of the most significant advantages of EZ Freeze liquid propane fridge options is their independence from the electrical grid. Unlike traditional electric refrigerators that require a constant power supply, propane refrigerators operate on propane gas, making them an ideal choice for off-grid living. This feature ensures that your food and other perishable items remain fresher and safer – even in remote locations or during power outages. In doing so, you can worry less about food spoiling or temperature sensitive medications that require consistent refrigeration.
Energy Efficiency
Propane refrigerators from EZ Freeze are renowned for their energy efficiency. They consume significantly less energy compared to their electric counterparts, making them a sustainable choice. The energy savings can also translate to lower utility bills and reduced environmental impact. This makes EZ Freeze LP refrigerators not only a practical option for off-grid enthusiasts but also a sustainable choice.
Quiet Operation
If you have ever been bothered by the constant hum of a traditional electric refrigerator, you are likely to appreciate the quiet operation of propane refrigerators. Our range of EZ Freeze LP refrigerators run virtually silently, creating a more peaceful and serene atmosphere in your off-grid home, cabin, or tiny house. This means that you are able to enjoy the sounds of nature without as many disruptive background noises.
Applications for Propane Refrigerators
The best liquid propane fridge options from EZ Freeze have a wide range of applications beyond off-grid living. Here are some of the scenarios where our selection of LP refrigerators shine:
- Off-Grid Homes: Whether you live in a remote area, in a mountain cabin, or in a rural community with limited access to electricity, an EZ Freeze LP refrigerator helps ensure you can enjoy the comforts of a refrigerator without the need for an electrical power source.
- Cabins and Tiny Houses: Propane refrigerators are ideal for smaller living spaces like cabins and tiny houses where space and power resources may be limited. They provide a compact and efficient perishables cooling solution that can fit seamlessly into these cozy environments.
- Shipping Container Homes: Shipping container homes are becoming increasingly popular due to their sustainability and affordability. EZ Freeze LP refrigerators are an ideal fit for these compact living spaces, offering a reliable food cooling solution without the need for a grid connection.
- Fishing Camps: For anglers and outdoor enthusiasts who spend time in fishing camps, propane refrigerators are invaluable. They help keep your catch of the day fresher and your beverages colder, even in the most remote locations.
EZ Freeze Burner Assembly
The EZ Freeze Propane Refrigerator burner assembly is constructed of corrosion resistant materials. The burner tube itself is made from stainless steel. Eliminating the possibility of corrosion allows the system to burn cleaner, keeping your propane refrigerator performance to its maximum. Corrosion can not only foul the burner slots but also attack the inside of the burner tube and create unwanted turbulence. The flame will then burn foul and put off soot and high levels of carbon monoxide. This is why our team always recommends regular maintenance as well as carbon monoxide detectors to help ensure your safety.
The burner housing and brackets are also made from stainless steel material, allowing for easy maintenance during service. This practice is unique to EZ Freeze out of any other gas refrigerator manufacturer.
The EZ Freeze gas refrigerator burner assembly removes from the refrigerator absorption cooling unit with only one screw. This is great for servicing these gas refrigerators, as there is nothing to disassemble or realign during regular routine propane refrigerator maintenance.
A flame viewing window is incorporated into the assembly to allow easy viewing from the rear of your gas fridge, and a flip-up shutter closes to keep out unwanted debris.
The entire Orifice Assembly of these gas refrigerators are made from solid brass, which also reduces the corrosion factor and increases the lifespan. One of just many things to consider when finding a propane refrigerator for sale.

EZ Freeze Gas Refrigerator Controls – Lighting Instructions
The controls of an EZ Freeze propane refrigerator are located on the front of the unit at the bottom. All are hidden by either the door or a removable panel. The controls include the Thermostat Control (shown as “Temp” within the gas refrigerator parts image below), which controls the temperature of both the refrigerator and freezer compartment. It adjusts the amount of refrigerant running through the system by controlling the high and low flame of the burner.
The refrigerant of the absorption system is an ammonia and water solution that flows via gravity from the top of the freezer to the refrigerator section below while absorbing all the hot air. The higher the temperature control is set the more the flame will stay on high and produce more refrigerant, making the interior colder.
The Gas Safety Shut-Off Valve on an EZ Freeze propane refrigerator (shown as “Gas” in the image) is magnetically-controlled by an electromagnet that is fed millivolts via the thermocouple. The thermocouple is heated by the flame and produces a small amount of electricity to power the magnet. If the flame is extinguished and the thermocouple does not sense heat, then the electromagnet will release and shut-off the gas supply. This prevents any unburned gas from escaping into the room.
The Piezo Igniter of the EZ Freeze Propane Refrigerator (shown as “Spark” in the image) is a self-powered, non-electric spark generator. It’s very similar to what propane BBQ grills use. By pushing this button, the Piezo Igniter will produce a spark to light the flame.
Lighting An EZ Freeze Gas Refrigerator
The first time after the set-up of the unit is complete, use the following procedure to light the burner. First time lighting may take longer than usual due to the air that may be in the gas lines.
- Turn on the gas valve at the rear of the gas refrigerator
- To start the gas refrigerator, turn the thermostat knob “Temp” (Thermostat) to the #2 setting
- Push and hold the “Gas” (Gas Safety Valve) button, and then…
- Press the “Spark ” (Piezo Igniter) button continuously 5 to 10 times to light the burner. Confirm the flame is lit by viewing through the flame “Viewer.” It should be possible to hear a slight turbulent noise from the flame. If the burner is lit, continue holding the “Gas” button for 5-15 seconds. Release the “Gas” button and confirm the burner is still lit. If the burner does not light, repeat steps 1 through 4.
We recommend that owners take a good look at the flame upon initial start up and note its size and color for future reference. It is good practice to visually check the flame for this size and color upon every start up.
If for some reason the unit will not light with the piezo ignition or the igniter is failing to spark, it is possible to hand light the burner. This usually requires two people. Simply use the above procedure and replace “Spark ” Button with a person at the burner with a long handled lighter.
This type of refrigerator uses manual operation. Setting the temperature information is located here and the manual defrosting information is located here.
Info on the EZ Freeze Propane Refrigerator Orifice
The gas orifice is a very important part of any gas fridge. EZ Freeze propane refrigerators all include a very precise orifice in the burner system that is unmatched in the industry. The orifice includes a ruby gemstone tip, all brass construction, internal filter, and pressure test port.
Ruby Gemstone Tip
EZ Freeze has these orifices manufactured specifically for propane refrigerators. The brass body of the orifice is bored out to accept a very precise ruby gemstone that has been laser-cut to the specific size. This process ensures that each orifice is virtually the same size with the proper BTU output.
Internal Filter
Any slight change in the size of the orifice hole will lower the performance of a gas refrigerator. This includes debris that may migrate into the orifice through the gas lines. This debris can be from a dirty tank, dirt or debris in the plumbing, or just left over material from construction or manufacturing. To ensure this does not cause EZ Freeze gas refrigerators to lose their reliable performance, the orifice hole is protected by a micro-fine filter screen just upstream from the ruby tip.
Pressure Test Port
This port allows diagnosis of the gas system using a manometer at the orifice while the gas refrigerator is in operation. This is the best way to detect a bad regulator or thermostat.
Overall, EZ Freeze fridge maintenance is cut down to a minimum due to the precision of this solid brass orifice.
Please also note that the orifice for both the EZ Freeze Freezer and Blizzard Freezer is quite different when comparing the freezer to the refrigerator. The Freezer orifice is a different size and shape, which is vital for the freezer cooling unit functioning properly.

A Review of the EZ Freeze Gas Refrigerator From a Satisfied Customer
A satisfied customer from Texas sent in this review of the EZ Freeze 19-cubic foot refrigerator. Warehouse Appliance is happy to share that the EZ Freeze refrigerator and our dedicated staff has met and exceeded this customer’s expectations! The customer writes:
“We’ve had the fridge for five years so I feel confident in giving a review. Our decision to purchase a propane refrigerator was based on the fragility of the grid and the requirement to have safe cold storage of food in case of a grid failure – either local or national, short-term or long-term.
Pros
- It doesn’t look any different than a regular electric refrigerator.
- The inside of the fridge has an excellent LED light powered by D batteries. The case for the batteries is in the back outside of the fridge, and it’s not difficult to change them. We’ve changed the batteries just once in five years and it was only because we did some maintenance on the fridge.
- Easy to clean. All it takes is a damp rag and a dry paper towel. Just like you’d do on your electric fridge.
- The biggest pro in buying the unit is getting one from Warehouse Appliance. They have been amazing all these years on all of my pre-purchase questions as well as maintenance questions. The DVD you get with the unit is invaluable. Watch the DVD and keep it with all the documentation that comes with the fridge.
Cons
- You’ve got to defrost it. The defrosting frequency depends on how much you use the fridge. I defrost as soon as the fins are 50% to 75% iced. I use a small fan and defrost the freezer first. Then I move the fan to the refrigerator section to blow on the fins.
Lessons learned
- Get the AcuRite thermometer.
- Keep maintenance equipment on hand at all times. We use the flue brush once a year.
- When you defrost the fridge, clean the flue and blow out the blower with a can of air. The instructions are on the DVD.
- Pay attention to the maintenance schedule.
- We moved as many appliances to propane as possible over the past several years because it’s reliable in a grid-down situation.
The bottom line of any review is ‘would I buy this again?’ The unequivocal answer is ‘yes’ and I would still buy from Warehouse Appliance because their team is knowledgeable, pragmatic, professional, patient, and friendly.”
Updated 6/26/2020
“We’ve had the 19 cubic foot refrigerator for 11 years and it’s still going strong.”
Where we are today
“We continue to do regular maintenance when the fridge is defrosted: wiping the inside, cleaning the door gaskets, brushing out the burner to remove dust and dirt, and cleaning the coils on the back of the fridge.
Because this fridge isn’t a big electric monster with a compressor, fans, etc., it’s easy to fix. Warehouse Appliance has all the spare parts for their appliances and ships them quickly; however, we keep critical spare parts on hand at all times because we don’t like even the rare emergency. Anyone reasonably handy with tools, and can follow directions, can easily perform maintenance and repairs. A caveat, we would never go into the sealed tubing and chambers nor should there ever be need to do so since it’s a sealed system.
Don’t get me wrong, things do wear out. We had a problem a few years ago and I called Warehouse Appliance and described the situation to see if it really was a problem. Without missing a beat, we were walked through the repair that we could do right then because we already had a thermocouple. Hint on replacing the thermocouple: lay a short 2X4 under where the top of the fridge will be when it’s laid down on its side to replace the thermostat. Put a towel on top of the board so the fridge won’t get scratched. This helps when you need to lift the fridge back to standing position.”
Customer Service
“Is top-notch. I called today to ask a question and they always have the time and patience to talk with me. This is service after the sale more than a decade later.
It all comes back to the question ‘would I buy this again?’ Absolutely. It’s a good product and we have had consistent excellent customer service.”
